Hello, I’m Whitney.
A teacher, a tutor, and a believer that children’s curiosity is a wonderful place to begin.
Growing readers. Nurturing curiosity.Rooted in real learning.
Grow A Reader began with reading and writing tutoring, and a wish to share more of the learning that happens in and beyond the classroom.
Whitney works in Boston Public Schools and supports beginning readers and writers through tutoring. Her educational community also includes colleagues and student teachers connected with Emmanuel College.
The vision is a welcoming place where families find personal support, and educators share classroom ideas, reading resources, and perspectives from their own practice.
Say hello to WhitneyLearning from
Reggio Emilia.
An experience in Italy brought a different perspective on children, classrooms, and the possibilities of learning.
Through a University of Wyoming grant, Whitney spent approximately two weeks visiting schools in Reggio Emilia, meeting families, and learning from the educational community. She also describes meeting Loris Malaguzzi.
That experience is part of her story—and part of the curiosity and connection she brings to Grow A Reader.
Let’s help your reader grow.
Tell Whitney a little about your learner. We’ll start there.
